dc.description.abstract |
Sulukule has been identified with Romani residents for centuries. An urban renewal project began in the neighborhood in 2005. The project not only transformed the social structure of Sulukule, but also highlighted the social differences and isolation of the former residents. In this thesis, the outcome of this transformation is analyzed focusing on their exclusion. e post-project situation of the neighborhood is illuminated through studies concentrating on social exclusion and its side effects. e pe-culiar social structure of the Sulukule Romani community is also taken into account. |
