dc.description.abstract The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of bilingualism on inhibitory control and theory of mind development of preschoolers between the ages of 3 and 5. Accordingly, 2 age groups of bilinguals and monolinguals (younger group between the ages 3 and 4; older group between the ages 4 and 5) performed following tasks; theory of mind tasks (location false belief, location false belief explicit, contents false belief, appearance-reality task), inhibitory control (DCCS, Grass/Snow and Day/Night Stroop task and color-object Stroop task), Peabody Vocabulary Test, and lastly pretend play. The results of the study revealed only significant effects of age on both theory of mind and inhibitory control; not language. The results of the study were discussed in the light of SES and parent education level of the participants.
